Michelham Priory is available for weddings, receptions and ceremonies throughout the year though it is open to the public between March and October.

The Elizabethan Great Barn and its private adjoining Moat Terrace Lawn are the centre of our wedding reception services. The Barn can accommodate parties as small as thirty or less and comfortably seats up to one hundred and thirty. The Moat Terrace and lawn is perfect for enjoying your reception drinks, but we can also advise on the hiring of a marquee if you wish.

The annual garden Sculpture Trail features works by local artists and are specially selected for their merit and to complement the garden. The seven acres of grounds are divided into smaller areas including a Medieval style walled Physic and Herb Garden, a Cloister Garden reflecting the Priory’s origins, a working Kitchen Garden and extensive herbaceous borders with flowering shrubbery and a water-lily filled moat which borders the private Moat Terrace used for wedding parties and corporate receptions.

The refurbished watermill grinds the organic flour used in the bread baked by our catering team. The earliest documentary evidence shows there was milling at Michelham since 1434. The mill is now operated by a team of volunteers. During the open season milling takes place every afternoon from 2.00 pm until closing.

Our own in-house catering team, are dedicated to providing the highest standards of food and service. Our philosophy is based on using of high quality and local ingredients celebrating both the best of traditional and modern trends in British cooking. For all information regarding booking the legal ceremony, registrar’s fees and procedures within the actual ceremony are obtained from the Superintendent Registrar in Eastbourne on 01323 415051.

To preserve the tranquil beauty of this peaceful country setting we are only licensed until 8.00pm, therefore our ceremonies are scheduled for mornings and afternoons, allowing plenty of time to relax and enjoy your guests.
