Lewes Castle Weddings, Civil Ceremonies and Functions

Lewes Castle offers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get married in a real castle, enjoying wonderful views over scenic Lewes and the Downs from your ceremony right at the top of the monument.

The Castle was begun soon after 1066 by William de Warenne as his stronghold in Sussex but not completed until 300 years later with the building of the magnificent Barbican Gate, now a stunning frame for a picture of a wedding party.

During the year, the Castle’s lower Gun Garden provides a stage for theatrical, musical and period events for all to enjoy and the upper Keep is the stage for seasonal fireworks.
